Tournament Rules
- Tournament will be held at Steve’s Landing 1290 Bay-Vue Dr. Crystal Beach on Saturday, Oct.10th, 2020
- Teams may register in person, Friday from 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at 846 Main Street, Crystal Beach.
- Online entry cut off is 10:00 P.M. October 9, 2020. If you registered online, there is no need to check in prior. We will communicate all Tournament updates by text.
- Anglers are allowed to be on the water before the tournament starts but may not start fishing until 6:00 AM.
- At Weigh-in, we will be following all government guidelines set in place.
- Weigh-in station will open at 2:00 PM and will close at 3:00 PM. Any team that does not make the weigh in by 3:00 PM will be disqualified. A minimum of one team entrant must be in line with their team’s fish by 3:00 P.M. to be counted.
- All state, federal, and Texas Parks & Wildlife rules and regulations shall apply at all times during tournament hours.
- Tournament fishing is restricted to Texas public waters only.
- Fish weighed in need to be in fresh, edible condition and caught the day of the tournament only. (no bonus weight for live fish and no penalty for dead fish.)
- Anglers may trailer to launch and are not restricted to one designated location.
- Entry fee is $300 per team (max 4-person team).
- Anglers are allowed to fish with live, dead, or artificial bait/lures.
- All fish must be caught on a rod and reel.
- Kayak fishing, bank fishing, and wade fishing is allowed. Team members must launch, dock, and remain together while fishing
- The tournament pays 50% of entry fees to the angler and 50% to the nonprofit, Chase Right Choices, 501c (3).
- The tournament is based on a heaviest Slam; a three fish maximum stringer of one each: (trout, redfish, and flounder).
- Tournament will pay out first, second, and third place.
- In the occurrence of a tie in weight, the payout will go to the first team that weighed in.
- Side pots are $25 per side pot per team
- Fish that are used towards your combined stringer weight ARE eligible for side pot entry.
- All fish length will be measured on a flat ruler(check-it-stick). All tails will be pinched to maximum length except for redfish. Redfish will be measured with the check it stick's perfect pincher on a flat stick stopping at 27".
- Side pots will consist of:
- Heaviest trout $25 per team (Tail will be pinched to determine maximum length)
- Heaviest flounder $25 per team (Tail will be pinched to determine maximum length
- Heaviest slot redfish $25 per team (20”-28” The clamp/pincher will be stopped at 27 inches)
- Slot Redfish with the most spots (20”-28” The clamp/pincher will be stopped at 27 inches) $25 per team
- *Bonus* Dead Last This bonus side pot is your combined stringer weight. Your team will be automatically entered in the “Dead Last” side pot if you enter in all of the other divisions. Your team must have one trout, one redfish, and one flounder in order to qualify. The team with the smallest combined string weight wins.
- Side pots pay 100% to the angler and only pay out a first place in each division.
- If an angler or team wishes that a fish be re-weighed or re-measured, he or she must do so on the immediately. Decisions of the judges/weigh master are final.
- We encourage all anglers to wear a Coast Guard Approved PFD while the watercraft is powered by its primary engine.
- Fishing can be a dangerous recreational activity. CT’s Texas Slam Fishing Tournament, Chase Right Choices, and all volunteers of the event assume no responsibility or liability for the actions of anglers.
